THE [ PARADOXICAL ] POMEGRANATE
-
Aphrodisiac + contraceptive...enflaming + cooling...
Symbolic of life + death, fertility + barrenness...
The pomegranate is an infinite balancing act; a stunning garnet jewelbox forever sparkling between opposing states.
Each of the objects that comprise Assemblage No. 001 conceptually explores one of these paradoxes, playfully acknowledging the fruit's contentious lore.

Our world is bejeweled with paradox, liminality offering a certain permanence within its lack thereof: the in-between is a space every bit as familiar as it isn’t, holding us captive as we muse over what we believe to be just as certain as it isn’t.
The earth on which we raise our crops is the very same as the dirt in which we bury our bodies, life itself an infinite balancing act and a mediation between opposing states for which our capacity to relish is mirrored only by our grasp of its impermanence.
Pomegranates have long been archetypal of such contradictions; symbolic of a complete cycle: life and death and life again, returning anew; returning transformed. Because we are surrounded by death, every moment that we are alive is tremendously more pleasurable – and because of that, every part of life becomes erotic.

As such, if you’ll allow it, life itself can be the most most wild and beautiful fête: Assemblage No. 001 is an invitation to stay at the party well-past the witching hour. . .
. . . or at the very least until you’ve ravished the host.
